About Merrell

Randy Merrell began making outdoor footwear in 1981 patterned after his custom boots for that beloved American icon, the cowboy. Randy's goal for his outdoor boots and shoes was to strike the right balance between a snug heel fit and a roomy toe to prevent blisters and decrease foot shock. They also had to fit perfectly, like cowboy boots. From these beginnings sprang forth today's extensive line of mountaineering and hiking boots, trail running shoes, sport sandals, and casual shoes that now define Merrell, including their innovative (and now widely copied) After Sport footwear. Wolverine World Wide, makers of a number of international brands, purchased Merrell Footwear in October 1997. Wolverine and Merrell are dedicated to producing performance-oriented, sport-specific footwear based on years of design and technical experience. Merrell is now located at Wolverine International headquarters in Rockford, Michigan.
